Funding

What is Support at Home?

Government-funded support, shaped around your goals.

Support at Home is designed to help eligible older people remain living at home for longer. An aged care assessment helps determine eligibility, priorities and the services that may suit your needs.

Your approved support plan can include ongoing services or short-term pathways. You can then choose a registered provider and agree the mix of services together.

Support may include

  • Help with everyday living and household tasks
  • Personal care and support with independence
  • Transport, companionship and respite care
  • Nursing and other clinical supports
  • Equipment and home modifications, where approved

Funding levels

Support at Home levels, in plain English.

Support at Home now uses eight ongoing classifications. This Level 1–4 guide offers a simple orientation, including transitioned Home Care Package levels. Your final classification and budget are confirmed through an aged care assessment.

Level 1

Starting support

Help focused on selected everyday tasks while supporting independence at home.

Level 2

Growing support

A broader mix of practical help for routines, safety and staying connected.

Level 3

More regular support

More frequent assistance for changing needs and a coordinated support plan.

Level 4

Higher support needs

A higher level of ongoing assistance shaped around complex or substantial needs.

Funding classifications, contributions and available services can change. Check the latest guidance with My Aged Care before making decisions.

What will I pay?

Contributions depend on the services you receive and your personal circumstances. Check the official Support at Home information for current guidance before making decisions.

Can I change my mix of services?

If your needs or goals change, you can discuss a different mix of services with your provider or ask for a support plan review.
